The Sunion Ecocycle Journey: From Academia to ActionDr. Rebecca never imagined trading academia for scrap yards. With a Ph.D. in Management and a passion for sustainability, her path seemed set—until one visit to an e-waste facility changed everything.
Determined to turn discarded electronics into opportunity, she left her university job and got to work—hands dirty, sleeves rolled up. Starting with a small warehouse in Costa Mesa, she combined research with real-world innovation, pioneering high-efficiency recycling methods. Her breakthrough came through a strategic partnership with a cutting-edge facility in Singapore, creating a global supply chain for sustainable materials.
Today, Sunion Ecocycle transforms 5,000 tonnes of e-scrap and metal annually across 350,000 sq ft of facilities in Costa Mesa and Singapore—proving that what the world discards can be reborn with vision and action.
